We are Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc., a Latina-based, not Latina exclusive sorority founded on December 1, 1987, at Binghamton University. To us, a sorority is more than just a social group: it’s a lifelong commitment to sisterhood, academic excellence, leadership, service, and cultural pride. We focus on uplifting our communities, especially women and underrepresented groups, through meaningful initiatives that foster empowerment, support, and unity.

Sigma Lambda Upsilon's recruitment process varies by campus but it all starts with Informal Teas! Get to know Hermanas and the rest will fall into place! Interested individuals should reach out to the local chapter at their institution to learn about specific recruitment events and requirements.

Being a part of Sigma Lambda Upsilon has changed our lives. We’ve found a deep sisterhood built on sincerity, loyalty, and unity. We support each other academically, constantly pushing ourselves and our Hermanas to reach higher. We take on leadership roles within the organization and in our communities, which helps us grow personally and professionally. Giving back through service is a core part of who we are, and we also cherish and celebrate our diverse cultures. Joining this sorority means gaining a lifelong network of strong, driven, compassionate women.

We know there are a lot of stereotypes out there about sororities, but the reality, at least for us, is very different. We’re not here for parties or popularity; we’re here to make a difference. Our sisterhood is built on intellect, culture, and leadership. We support each other, uplift our communities, and constantly strive to better ourselves. We are proud of the work we do and the women we continue to become.
